The Songs
Below are links to detailed entries on each of the songs in the Place manuscript, including transcriptions, annotations and high resolution photography of the original manuscripts.
The manuscript falls into three sections:
2) The Songs
Mr Haywood was an attorney whom Place consulted as he began to recollect the songs. Several of the Songs that Haywood includes in his recollections made their way into Place's collection ("A Hole to Put Poor Robin In," "With my Popps in my Pocket," "Teddy Blink and Bandy Jack") but Haywood also mentions several songs which Place does not include. We have not included these songs in the list of Place's songs, but they can be seen in our transcription of Haywood's notes.
